GRASSINGTON PHOTOSHOOT DEVELOPMENT

Tiered Eyes

To create this image I had to merge two of my images together using layers. The reason I chose these two images was because the first photograph of the 'masked eyes' didn't turn out how I expected, the subjects hand in the left hand corner blured making the image slightly off putting. But because the rest of the image was still focused I wanted to blend two together hopefully creating an interesting effect. I started of on Adobe Photoshop pro and inserted the image of the two models into the tree using layers. I felt that the possitioning of the models behind had to use the rule of thirds other wise both images would be central. The image of the mask was exposed to my flash as well as natural light making it isntantly more brigher and outstanding. I changed the hue saturation of this layer and mono-chome so that there was a clear difference to the two pictures. Finally I merged the two together making it a flat image. This then enabled me to alter the brightness and contrast. In relation to the everyday this final picture makes the image look abnormal. The contrast between the posture of the two models and the mask makes it very perculiar, which is what I like about this image. Within this the mask relates to everyday outings such as popular maskerade balls, and the two girls in the tree suggest there age and there urge to play within the tree.

Within this page is the process I used to change and manipulate my images so that they appealed to my tital, the everyday. I really like the outcome of these images but if given the chance I would like to take more with a different subject.

Brick Walls

This image is one of my favourite pictures I took. I love the contast between forground and background because I think it gives the image great dimention. The way that the walls change in colour really interested me and felt this image worked best in black and white. I placed my camera on selective colour - black and white, so that the image was already in this colour when I came to edit it. I used dodge and burn in order to bring out the cracks in the flooring since I felt it gave the picture more debth and emphisis. I feel like this image strongly relates to a childs everyday in terms of playing. This links with my new thesis because of dreams and surealisum making the image stand out. I felt it was important to place both models in the forground and background so that tthe lighting from the barn roof can contrast as well as create a large debth of feild. I love the contrast on the wall showing context of the barn and a large histroy which also contrasts with the two young models. This is my favorate image from the shoot and I would like to develop it further in the future and possibly make a printed canvas, since i think this is my best photograph and it really appeals to me.
